What a sight for sore feet it was to arrive at the Carriage House Inn after three days and 25 miles on the Allegheny Trail. The beds were soft, the food was great and Jeannie a delight. Thanks for everything.

Jeanie,
Ray and I had a great stay! After 2 nights on the Allegheny Trail with modest food, heavy packs and hard ground,we were truly pampered by your hospitality. Thanks for the great meals and the ride to our car!
We'll see you again when we resume our hike (during better weather).

Im a filmmaker from Virginia and Jeannie was so incredibly nice to allow us to film at her Inn. She made me and my cast feel so comfortable and welcome. Her dinner that night was wonderful. ( yes it was better than my Mom's, LOL). Chat with Jeannie and soon you realize your speaking with a good friend. I plan to come back to Huntersville on more film work and another visit to the Carriage House Inn.

Jeannie becomes an instant friend the moment she opens the door to welcome you in. The Inn is cheerfully decorated with antiques and seasonal/holiday items which made me feel comfortable, relaxed and totally "at home". Breakfasts were delicious presentations in the diningroom, next to the wood burning stove for a warm and cozy, conversation inviting meal. If I'm unable to stay here the next time I visit the area, I will stop by anyway to chat with my new friends (Jeannie & Lexie).

What great hospitality! We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts were so tasty and nothing run-of-the-mill here. French toast with home-made syrup and fresh nasturtium blossoms served with quiche. Very nice! The room was so appealing and that upstairs balcony porch was the best for reading in the mornings. We'll be back!
Best regards from Indianapolis -Greg & Debbie

Dear Jeannie,
WOW! You took in 3 very dirty/tired horse-ridin' gals and turned us back into human beings! We so enjoyed our stay at your beautiful home and our time spent in your enchanted garden was rejuvinating and inspiring. Thank you so much for everything (even the lady in the attic!) - I loved that part. Diana from Elkins

We arrived at the beautiful Carriage House Inn after completing 217 miles of our 271 mile journey by horseback for assessment of the Allegheny Trail. Jeannie greeted us with such a warm welcome for a trio of dusty, weary, hungry cowgals. We settled in to our lovely, cozy attic room and so enjoyed the luxury of a warm bath/shower. Soon after, we went out to see the gardens. Oh my goodness, words can't describe the creative beauty and restful wonder found here. You just have to see and enjoy it for yourself. Then, Jeannie served us a delicious dinner with her special salad and dressing that was quite memorable and a yummy apple dessert to finish. We fell into dreamy, comfortable beds so pretty and so peaceful.
Breakfast the next morning was soooo good and there were even strawberries from that magical garden.
We headed back out on the trail renewed, refreshed and revived in body and in spirit.
The Carriage House Inn and Jeannie's warm and gracious hospitality were such a treat. I can't wait for the opportunity to visit again. Thank you Jeannie you're the best.

We have stayed with Jeannie at the Carriage House on 2 separate occasions and both times, enjoyed lovely accomodations in a beautiful home setting. Jeannie is a perfect hostess and when requested, an expert gourmet cook for dinner - better here than any restaurant around! The breakfasts are delicious also. Jeannie goes the extra mile to aid her guests, in our case helping us in our backpacking hike of the nearby Allegheny Trail. We hope to return to relax in the superb atmosphere.

Dear Jeannie,
Thank you for such wonderful hospitality - it was like visiting a dear sister! The food was amazing! The camping group - all 8 of us - enjoyed the porch and relaxing after biking the Green Brier Trail. You have a lovely inn and we all had such a peaceful, wonderful time.

Happy New Year's Eve was just that at CHI - Games coordinated, dictated and mandated by Miss NeysaSue who did an outstanding job of planning the hilarious games. Big fun, big time. Of course, the usual delcious food supplied by all who attended. A wonderful way to ring in 2011, cheers to all.

Just spent the most wonderful long weekend at the CHI with owner Jeannie Dunham and Yoga Instructor Pattie Cargill. The new Yoga Studio that officially opened to the public was a great experience. Gentle strength building and breathing from the Certified instructor, Pattie, left me feeling with a calming but new sense of being. Looking forward to more of these weekends. Food as always was wonderful and the guests (a full house) were a pleasure to talk with. If anyone has not experienced the enjoyable time spent at the CHI, make your reservation now! Thanks to all. Dogs, too.

The Third (Fourth?) Annual July 4th Celebration for 2010 was toppers! And to all our delight, the British contingent climbed to 4 - enjoyed seeing the lads and meeting Chris and Douglas. Kudos to Neysa and Lewis for bringing the delicious Union Jack Cake - bootyful, just bootyful - such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. Once again, many hours of fine eating, porch-sitting, biking (and we ain't just talking pedaling, here--the Harley was "awesome" - to quote Chris), hiking, and, much more. Did I mention the Jefferson Baths near The Homestead? Ahhh. And not to be forgotten: the 5 o'clock beverage hour on the Big Rock in the stream - w/thanks to Melanie & Jimmy. And for the the naturalist out there, a crayfish ("crayfish, crawfish, or crawdads — members of the superfamilies Astacoidea and Parastacoidea — are freshwater crustaceans resembling small lobsters,.." Wiki) sighting by the Greenbrier River Bikers from CHI. (Was it really 2 flat tires for "someone"?)

Will see you soon to put final touches on the Yoga Studio in preparation for more good times at the Inn. Thank you, Jeannie, for your generous heart-warming hospitality and friendship!

The perfect place for our wedding family and guests! Jeannie and her friend Patty treated us all just like family. One could not ask for a better, more friendly, home and hearth place than here! Once again Jeanne made us feel as if we went home for a visit not away for a vacation. I have a feeling we'll be going home for regular visits when we're old and feeble (older and feebler for some of you). A young driver/nurse may have to be hired, but we'll be there many more times.

A wonderful reunion up in the hills of West Va! Fabulous times with friends, food, and pups. It was hard to leave that lovely front porch. Jeannie is the master of making everyone feel relaxed and happy. The Inn is a perfect escape from the rat race. I am making plans to return.

Spending our 40th wedding anniversary at the Carriage House Inn was 2 nights and 3 days of pure enjoyment. As usual (third visit) the inn keeper and her faithful dogs made us feel immediately at home. Lots to do so one is never bored for excitement. A K-run was going on as well as a huge kyak assemblage. The gourmet breakfasts are worth the trip alone! See you again, Jeannie, and thanks for the weekend. Anniversary card and truffels were a lovely addition to our anniversary.

We absolutely love the Carriage House Inn, but we love Ms. Jeannie even more. Each year we look forward to a ski trip at Ms. Jeannie's as we love to enjoy the feeling of coming back to a warm home after a long day of skiing. Ms. Jeannie is so welcoming, friendly, and just wonderful and her beautiful home provides us with a great vacation away from our busy lives.

I absolutely love the Carriage House Inn. It's so beautiful, and the area is beautiful as well. I have spent countless summers visiting Pocahontas County with my family, and staying in a cabin there. I've grown up visiting Jeannie every summer. She is a friend of my family, and she is soo kind and sweet. Thank you Jeannie for all the fun times!

Since it was last Oct. during Huntersville Traditions Day my friends and I stayed with you, when we came up from Tenn. for the Huntersville Confederate Cemetery memorial, I am seriously slow to add a post. Thing is, it is really hard to sign a guestbook when I never felt like a guest - I felt like I was at home. You have created a beautiful, charming, and peaceful oasis in a crazy world. I look forward to returning.
PS - Love the resident innkeepers in training - my "kids" would never be so well behaved.

We've enjoyed the hospitality and friendship of Jeannie and her four legged friends twice a year for over ten years. Whether dropping kids off at Camp Twin Creeks in the summer or renting the entire house for our annual family ski trip at Snowshoe, we can always count on a great stay, great food and great company. Our kids, their cousins and friends always look forward to our visits and have many special memories from the Carriage House Inn. Jeannie always goes out of her way to make our stay exceptional.

Thank you for creating the perfect environment for a Yoga Getaway Weekend--and for your generous hospitality. Such good fun...loved the bike ride with Mary Lou and Maureen, even if the return was frantic, thinking I had lost my camera on the way out! Two leisurely late-afternoon porch sittings--sippin' and knitting (with big thanks to Sherry for providing instruction)--provided the perfect end of day relaxation before dinner around the big table, warmed by the woodstove...home sweet home! I am more than content to be the Carriage House Inn's official yoga instructor--anytime! The Bean/Chicken Chili was so good with the Very Special Secret Ingredient cornbread--and I'll be dreaming about the Apple/Berry Galette until I can taste it again. I love that we celebrated the Vernal Equinox here with you--Spring, at last! Looking forward to returning and seeing the unfolding of the flower beds and your herb and vegetable garden.

The yoga "get away weekend" couldn't have been more enjoyable! The yoga was gentle yet left one with the feeling of strength and inner connection. The instructor really knew what she was leading us through. Food was delicious, as good as any upscale restaurant yet casual. Walking through the front door was like going back to my grandmothers home in New England and receiving a warm hug from the house. The inn keeper was the best. Looking forward to my husband and I spending our 40th wedding anniversary here. Thanks again, Jeannie and Pat
